The Whitewater Tongariro is a favourite to experience camaraderie, with friendly waterfights, joshling to lead, swimming in the pools, jumping from a waterfall, and returning to a streamside hot pool.  If you have time restraints, or feeling a bit jaded and tired after a night of celebrating then the Lower Tongariro allows much of the same, without the seriousness of technical rafting.
